Prevention Programs
Our mission is to create a Recovery Forest; cultivated by meeting people where they are, treating them with care, approaching them with compassion and building an environment that prevents Substance Use Disorder. A Recovery Ecosystem makes this possible by encouraging healthy decision making, providing alternative treatment options and uplifting those in active substance use.
At Detroit Recovery Project prevention works to curb the onset of substance use or limit the development of problems associated with using. Like many aspects of DRP; prevention is provided by Peers that are trained as Certified Prevention Specialist and/or Certified Peer Recovery Support Mentor, ensuring that individuals receive effective and compassionate services. DRP prevention efforts focus on the individual as well as the Detroit Community through evidence based programming such as; Be Proud! Be Responsible! (BPBR), Choosing: Life, Empowerment, Action, Results (CLEAR), Anti-Retroviral Treatment and Access to Services (ARTAS), Screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
