Recovery Support ("Recovery Is Yours" program)

The Detroit Recovery Project was built upon a strong foundation of recovery support services.  Our recovery support services include the following:

  • Instrumental Support (assisting with completing forms, setting and completing goals)
  • Informational Support (Providing you with needed information and referrals)
  • Emotional Support
  • Social Support
    Our programs are peer led, peer driven and peer ran and range from Life Skills workshops, to GED education and weekly Support Groups.  Our peers provide peer-to-peer support, which has been proven to be successful in supporting individuals in sustaining their recovery. These services are available to individuals in all stages and levels of recovery within the metropolitan Detroit area.

Recovery Management

Our goal through the Recovery Management Program is to decrease recidivism and offer a 2nd CHANCE at life through Recovery. Recovery Management services are available to re-entering citizens on Wayne County probation through the State of Michigan. Recovery Management activities include: Individualized services & support, Cognitive Behavior Therapy Groups, Mentorship/Volunteer Opportunities, Adult Education Services & Employ-ability Skills.

Strengthening Families

The Strengthening Recovering Families Program is designed to provide family support and skills training to increase cohesiveness and to strengthening the family unit in the recovery community. The program offers training to increase resiliency, reduce risk factors for substance abuse, depression, violence and aggression as well as school failure among recovering parents and children. Families will participate in structured family activities in-house as well as planned field trips. Transportation will be provided with this program.

Health Education

The goal of the DRP Health Education Program,  is to provide information on how to live a “healthier life”, educating the recovery community on topics such as African American health, nutrition, providing HIV/AIDS, testing and education, Holistic & Alternative health education, diabetes, high blood pressure, physical fitness, and smoking cessation.   Additionally, through a partnership with the City of Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, we provide Hepatitis vaccination as well as seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines.

H.I.V. Prevention

The DRP provides HIV Outreach to ex-offenders and other individuals at-risk individuals within communities affected by drug and alcohol addiction. The DRP provides prevention services, education, peer support and case management.
